Getting to know Victoria
We all have moments where we can’t help but to laugh at ourselves. Tell us about one time you had to laugh at yourself.
Okay, I’m chuckling as I write this. My best friend Esther and I were coming from a book signing on a cold November, Friday evening. We were supposed to take our behinds straight to church for choir rehearsal. Well…we took a little detour on our way to this shop called The Mood. Now this is a place for adults and that’s all I’m going to say. Anyway, we look out the door and see our bus is sitting at the corner, so we take off running down the street.
Somehow Esther trips, and as she begins to fall, she reaches for me to break her fall. Before we knew it, she was tumbling forward and puckering up to kiss the pavement.
Don’t ask me how it happened, all I know is I was standing on Esther’s arm, semi-hysterical screaming, “Oh Lord, Esther get up! Are you alright?” It took a few seconds for both of us to process all one hundred and twenty-something pounds of my weight was on her arm! I thought something felt funny under my feet.
One of the best things I love about my best friend is that she’s just as silly and goofy as I am. After I helped her up and brushed her off, we took one look at each other and burst out laughing so hard until we were crying. We could not get ourselves together.
We learned two things that night. One, we proved that we were as agile as any teenager. That’s right… we did not miss our bus! LOL And two, stay away from naughty shops before going to church! LOL
What is one of the most embarrassing situations you have found yourself in?
OMG! There was this one time when the hospital where I work was doing a disaster drill. Well, my supervisor didn’t tell me it was a DRILL! She just called wanting to know how many staff members I could free up to send down to the emergency room to help with the disaster. “I’ll call you right back,” is what she said.
Well…because I thought it was the real thing I discharged all my patients a couple hours early so my staff and I could help with the disaster.
Me and my nosy self, I’m looking out the windows for ambulances, fire trucks and police cars. Nothing. Nada was going on. So I called my supervisor back and was like, “What’s going on? Should we report to the emergency room or what? I’ve already discharged the patients.”
She laughed. Yes! She had a nerve to laugh at me! “Oh, that was just a drill,” she said.
After I hung up the phone and told my staff they all started crackin’ up laughing at me. You see I was having a fit! “Oh! Lord Jesus! I don’t want to go down there stepping all over people with missing body parts!” Yeah, yeah, yeah…I’m a nurse, but there’s a BIG difference between a nurse whose practice is based on health promotion and disease management vs. emergency care. I don’t do guts and gore…thank you very much.
I must admit, after I calmed down I had to laugh, too. But what was really embarrassing was that my supervisor had to report my blooper to her boss, who is the freakin’ VP of Nursing! My boss was really cool though. She took the blame because she hadn’t informed me it was drill.
If you could be any character in fiction, who would you be?
Wonder Woman! I was a little girl when the t.v. show starring Linda Carter used to come on. I looooved how she kicked butt, repelled bullets with her gold cuff bracelets and snatched up the bad guys with her lasso!

Victoria sounds like my kinda friend!
Hey Renee! Victoria, that was too funny! You know we all have moments of falling……we can think about and laugh at! Well, let me tell you…..Second Chance at Love was off the hook! I truly fell in love with the relationship between Dom and Karen’s Kids first, and then the way he wanted to just be her all. You see, I come from a broken home and when my mother and father remarried, I had the wicked stepfather and stepmother to contend with. Cinderella had nothing on me! LOL!!!! There is something special about a man that will truly love another man’s children as his own! I’ve also gotta say that Dom came in a close 2nd to Kevin who is my favorite male hero in When Love Comes Around! Anywho, I highly recommend this book to all who wants to experience a lot of love and romance mixed with a lot of motherly “adult” advice! LOL!!! Have a wonderful day!
Love your responses! I love a story with kids in them so of course I fell in love with Karen’s kids. They were hiiiilarious with their plotting and planning lol!!! Dom wasn’t bad at all either
